Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Allegations Connected to Player Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement on Wednesday evening stating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations made public in online accounts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in communication with the NFL.

The team omitted the name of Rice by name in their statement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Posted on Social Media

The woman, who also did not mention Rice by name, shared a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. She did say the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with the football player, whom the Chiefs selected in the second round.

Police Reports Currently Not on File

No police reports were available in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Rice's Recent Legal Issues

The receiver was absent for the first six games of this season following an NFL suspension for his role in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that resulted in multiple people hurt. Rice was sentenced a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.

Statistically, Rice concluded the season with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
