Flight operations have restarted at Scotland's primary international airport following a substantial air traffic control outage grounded all flights.

All aircraft movements were halted after an IT issue that occurred at about 08:30.

Several flyers found themselves stranded in planes on the runway while the issue persisted.

Services Recommence with Ongoing Delays

Officials announced at 10:40 that flights had resumed, and expressed gratitude to passengers for their "understanding and cooperation".

However, significant disruption are likely to affect schedules. Flights to key destinations like Amsterdam, Frankfurt, London, and Bristol have been cancelled, with many others facing hold-ups.

Officials had earlier anticipated that dozens of flights could be affected.

"Passengers are advised to check directly with their airline for the current status on their booked journeys," officials reiterated.

Root of the Disruption

Officials linked the operational halt to an systems failure with its air traffic control provider.

Passengers continue to be advised to confirm the details of their flight before heading to the hub as backlogs are managed.
